Welcome to the brand new, totally redesigned PointsAway.com! A few weeks ago, I announced that we’d be making some big changes to the website, and I’m happy to share them with you today.

I loved the journal-like aesthetic of the old site, but it had one huge issue: because of its blog-style format, once a feature slipped a few days or weeks into the past, it became all but impossible for new visitors to find. That meant that some of our best reader trip submissions, trip reviews and in-depth guides fell by the wayside all too quickly. With over 185 features, PointsAway had simply outgrown its old home.

The New PointsAway

The new site vastly improves on these old limitations. At the top of the front page, we’ll still be sharing our latest and greatest features each week.

However, a key new feature is found just below: our list of continents.

You’ll see our latest features focused on destinations worldwide here. Click on a continent’s name for a full list of our reader trip case studies, reviews and guides to destinations!

Scrolling down a bit further, you’ll find a section dedicated to our reader trip case studies. New ones will be pulled from our existing database each time you visit the site!

You’ll also find links to our posts covering the best travel deals and travel tips & tech.

Continuing down from there, you’ll find a variety of trip review features, including posts from Project Pacific Circle, our 25,000 mile points-powered trip to New Zealand, Australia, Hong Kong and Japan!

Near the bottom, you’ll find some of our articles dedicated to the important interrelation of travel and finance. This includes some of the best credit card sign-up offers and reviews, as well as information on booking trips with cash while saving money.

If you’re not seeing everything precisely like it’s shown in these screenshots, that’s because you’ve discovered another key new feature: PointsAway is now fully responsive, which means it looks great on desktop, tablet and mobile, regardless of what device you use to visit the site! Everything adjusts automatically based on your screen size.

As you can imagine, the process of moving everything over to this new design wasn’t easy. I had to go back through each and every article ever posted to PointsAway and make a variety of changes to ensure articles would look right on the new site. The work was often tedious, but it also gave me an opportunity to reflect on how many incredible adventures points and miles have allowed me to enjoy in just the past couple years, and how much fun I’ve had helping others save thousands and make dream trips reality through features written here.

I can’t wait for another fantastic year of impossible adventure and massive savings in 2015. Along with some brand new posts for the site, I’m hard at work on an update to the PointsAway Book for 2015, including several new chapters and major updates for programs undergoing changes, like Delta and American. These are exciting times, so thanks for being here with us and, as always, happy travels!
